Greetings,
Lake Stewards of Maine has opened registration for the invasive aquatic plant training sessions to be held this year. These include both the "plant paddles," which are 3-hour sessions and include time on the water, and the "live plant ID" sessions, at which live plants, both native and non-native, are examined in trays. Both are valuable either to learn how to identify the plants or to provide a refresher for those who had the training in past years. Two of these are nearby:
7/11/25 - 1 pm - 4 pm - Live Plant ID - Wayne, Kennebec County
7/18/25 - 10 am - 1 pm - Plant Paddle - Minnehonk Lake - Mt Vernon, Kennebec County
People can register for any of the sessions here:
Steve, Silas and I will also organize a session locally, probably on David Pond, earlier in the season to talk about this year's surveys and to look at all the plants we can find so we can help distinguish between the native and invasive plants we're most likely to see in our surveys.
